Mr. Wang Yongcheng

During the 13th WBUAP Regional Massage Seminar held in May 2016, Mr. Wang Yongcheng, from China, was elected the Chairman of the WBUAP Regional Massage Commission. He took up this role in August 2016 at the close of the World Blind Union General Assembly held in Orlando. He will hold this position and serve on the WBUAP Board and Policy Council for the next four years.

Wang Yongcheng was born in 1967 in Fujian, China. He lost his sight in 1985 as the result of an accident. He holds a bachelor degree in acupuncture and massage and is a Chief Physician.

Since 1995 he has been engaged in training, employment and management in the blind massage industry. He is very knowledgeable about the blind massage industry, and enjoys high prestige in the disability community. Currently he holds several leadership roles in provincial and national organisations of the blind and the wider disability sector.

He represented China at the 7th and 12th WBUAP Regional Massage Seminars giving presentations and leading workshops. He has been to Taiwan twice and signed The memorandum of Blind Exchange and Cooperation across the strait with related organizations. In 2016 he attended the Blind Massage and Assistive Technology Conference involving China’s Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. He has received several awards and has published 18 professional papers. He has trained almost 5,000 blind masseurs.

Writing in East Wind No. 18 July 2016, Ivan Ho, WBUAP past Secretary General, reported that Mr. Wang Yongcheng will lead the 2018 Regional Massage Seminar to be held in Fujian, China.
