Champassak Branch Opened in Laos

The Laos Association of the Blind is a new organization. It was recognized as a registered
organization only in September 2007. Since then, they have been trying
hard to reach the blind people in the country, not only in the Vientiane-Capital but also in the provinces. One of their main activities was, of course, to set up their chapters. The project has been supporting their work for new branches, and during the second quarter of 2012, LAB succeeded in gaining the official registration of
their branch in Champassak. Since there was no branch in this province, LAB utilized the
opportunity of the Small Scale Fund Project to conduct advocacy workshop in the province that involved local government officials.

This was a good chance for LAB to strengthen their ties with the
provincial government, which eventually led to the registration of the
branch.
We all believe that this will be a major step toward the improvement
of lives of blind peoples in the rural provincial area.
