ESCAP-Sasakawa Award for Disability-Inclusive Business in Asia and Pacific 2013

We are pleased to announce the call for nominations and applications for
the ESCAP-Sasakawa Award for Disability-inclusive Business in Asia and the
Pacific, which was launched in November 2012 by ESCAP in partnership with
the Nippon Foundation and the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability
(APCD).

The objectives of the Award are to:
. Publicly recognize and reward businesses that demonstrate good
practices in responding to the needs of persons with disabilities in
their business operations;
. Raise awareness regarding the opportunities available to the private
sector for inclusion of persons with disabilities in businesses; and
. Catalyse Asia-Pacific leadership in disability-inclusive business.

 

The Award is open to commercial enterprises that demonstrate excellence and
innovation in the delivery of disability-inclusive business practices and
are based, or have regional operations, in any of the 58 countries and
territories within the ESCAP region. Recognition will be given to
excellence and innovation in the following three categories:

1. Disability-inclusive multinational enterprises;
2. Disability-inclusive enterprises at the national level;
3. Disability-inclusive entrepreneurial businesses.

 

The Award will be administered by the ESCAP secretariat in cooperation with
the Nippon Foundation and APCD. An independent international jury will be
established to review the nominations for the Award and select the winners.
The winners will receive public recognition for their excellence and
innovation in the field of disability-inclusive business. In addition, the
winner of the entrepreneurial category will receive a grant in the range of
USD 50,000-100,000.

We would like to invite your organization to nominate enterprises, which
demonstrate excellence and innovation in the delivery of
disability-inclusive practices, for the Award. You may also wish to
disseminate the information to other civil society organizations,
industrial and business associations, as well as other potential nominators
or nominees in your network.
