The World Blind Union – Asia Pacific (WBUAP) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit association, and one of the six regions of the World Blind Union (WBU). Our aims are to:
- work towards the advancement and well-being of blind and vision impaired people (otherwise referred to as “blind”) through equalisation of opportunities and full participation in society with dignity,
- raise awareness of the capabilities of blind people,
- and strengthen the self-help movements to further the interests of blind people.
WBUAP provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of blindness, and seeks to work in partnership with Governments of this Region to achieve its objectives as enshrined in its Constitution.
WBUAP consists of three sub-regions – East Asia, Pacific and Oceania, and South-East Asia. It is administered by a Board and Policy Council. The supreme power of WBUAP is vested in the Quadrennial General Assembly of its members.
